For better or worse, your architect has a handlebar mustache and opinions about windows.

Andy Drake, architect — Eugene, Oregon
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest — which means I grew up understanding that buildings are always in conversation with weather. Rain finds every flaw. Afternoon light is a gift you design for. A mudroom isn’t optional.
I worked in interior design for a decade before getting my architecture license, which means I think about the inside and outside of a building at the same time. I know what a kitchen looks like at 6am when you’re making coffee in the dark. I know which direction the couch should face. These things matter as much as the roofline.
I started Drake Architecture because I wanted to do this one way: directly. You hire me, you get me. Not a team of junior designers filtering my ideas. Every conversation, every drawing, every site visit — that’s me.
“Architecture isn’t about the building. It’s about the life that happens inside it.”

What I believe
Every project starts with listening
Before I pick up a pencil, I want to understand how you live — your mornings, your Sundays, the way you come home at the end of the day. Great architecture comes from understanding people, not imposing style.
The land has a voice
In Oregon, the site is always the first design decision. The slope of a hill, the direction of light, the way rain moves through a property — these aren’t constraints. They’re opportunities.
Details make a home yours
A mudroom that actually works for Eugene winters. A reading nook that catches afternoon light. A kitchen where the whole family gravitates. The details are where architecture becomes personal.
Drake Architecture supports Marist High School, local youth sports, and the Eugene design community. We believe in investing in the places we build.
